I try to balance embracing the mysteries of the universe with rigorous skepticism.

I began studying theatre when I was a boy and have worked as a professional actor for over 25 years. In my early 30’s I played Hamlet in a field, won an award, then had a nervous breakdown. That experience led me on a journey through the wilderness of alternative wellness practices, looking for pragmatic tools to help me find more peace and wellbeing (in the face of feeling late, and afraid, all the time).

I quickly discovered that somatics created change for me in a way that traditional talk therapies (while extremely helpful!) did not. It has had a profound impact on me. And I see my current wellbeing - the meaningful relationships I have in my life, general feelings of ease, and my new capacity to meet stress and adversity with a grounded cheerfulness - as a “proof of concept” of this work.

I’m far from perfect, but I’ve become good friends with the ways in which I am flawed, and I now have resources to support myself that never existed before.

While I don’t perform theatre much anymore, I still use my creativity to help my clients imagine the life they want to live, and help them rehearse how to be the person who lives it.

I think that profound self inquiry, visiting the dark corners of the self, and playful good humour are not mutually exclusive. I seek to be my client’s cheerful companion as we tread the occasionally thorny path of self transformation.
